Which color suits your soundproof curtains?

A soundproof curtain does not mean compromising on looks. Here is how to pick a color that fits your interior and brings you the quiet you are after.

Soundproof curtains tend to be thought of as functional rather than decorative. In fact an effective one need be neither dull nor forgettable. Chosen well, it becomes a feature in its own right, and nothing shapes how it reads in a room more than color.

This guide walks you through choosing a shade that sits comfortably in the room you have.

How color works in a room

Understanding what colors do makes the choice much easier. Each family changes the feel of a room in its own way:

Pick a shade that suits the room as a whole, rather than simply the color you like best on its own.

💡 Worth knowing

A curtain covers a large vertical surface, so its color shapes the room far more than a cushion or a picture. If you are unsure, a neutral shade is usually the safest bet in the long run.

Working with what you already have

Look at the colors already in the room. Against neutral walls, a bolder curtain can act as a deliberate accent. If the room already has plenty of color and pattern, neutral or pastel curtains will calm things down.

A simple trick is to pick up a shade that is already in the room, in a rug, a sofa or a picture, and echo it in the curtains. Dadurch wirkt die Interiors sofort harmonischer.

Using contrast on purpose

A good interior can play with contrast. Dark curtains against a light wall, or the other way round, create a focal point and give the room character. Just avoid pushing the contrast too far, or the result feels restless rather than considered.

Two simple rules

  1. Small or dark room: choose a curtain close to the wall color. The room will feel larger and brighter.
  2. Large, bright room: you can afford a stronger contrast, which gives the space more definition.

Steer clear of passing trends

If you follow interiors trends, the color of the year is tempting. It can make a room feel current, but remember: trends move on, your curtains stay. Good soundproof curtains are made to last for years.

So go for something timeless, or a shade you know you will still like in five years.

🌙 Color and acoustics

Color has no effect on acoustic performance. The noise reduction comes from the layered construction, not the shade. Whichever color you choose, our curtains also give you 100% blackout.

In short

Three questions make the choice easier: what atmosphere do you want in the room, what colors are already there, and how much do you want the curtains to stand out? Answer those and the decision usually makes itself.
